Maywood Makers - Mood Boards
For our first project with Maywood Studio, we were asked to create a mood board based on something that is currently inspiring to us while using floral prints from recent Maywood Studio collections, Shadow Play mini charms along with a blender fabric. We used Creative Tiles to pin up all our inspiration. Check out our projects!
Clare designed a collection of sawtooth star blocks inspired by the expansive beauty of the High Desert near Boise. Her palette of florals and earthy solids captures the blues, greens, and browns of the landscape she loves. Clare shares, “There is so much beauty in where one lives if you take the time to look.” With natural elements like sage and pinecones, her board offers a textured tribute to home and the quiet strength of the West.

Gina’s sewn bloom block channels the spirit of spring as a symbol of flourishing and renewal. Inspired by her love of travel and her mother’s lifelong collection of Delft dishware, her board reflects both heritage and personal growth. A recent trip to Amsterdam deepened her appreciation for the iconic blue and white designs that have long influenced her aesthetic. As Gina shares, “Bloom isn’t just a reset. It’s a chance to flourish and be our best selves,” a sentiment that beautifully ties together creativity, family influence, and joyful living.

Hillary’s vintage inspired blocks will soon become an “analog” tote bag designed for moments away from screens and into creativity. Inspired by denim, pearls from her grandmother, and memories of simpler times, her board reflects both nostalgia and intention. Hillary shares, “Everything old is new again,” a phrase that perfectly captures her love of timeless style and meaningful traditions. Her project encourages slowing down and savoring life’s quieter, tech free moments.

Katarina created her block with 5" squares from her two favorite fat quarters, reflecting her love of bold color and striking contrast. Personal photos of her and her sister anchor the board in family and resilience. As Katarina shares, “Home is more a concept than a place.” A ribbon unifies her palette, while skating and Disney pins nod to the creative inspiration she draws from costume design and color work.

Natasha’s mood board centers on her embroidered phrase “Ebb and Flow,” stitched into a mini quilt with stipple meander quilting that mirrors life’s rhythms. Surrounding it are thoughtfully chosen pieces, each layered with meaning and texture. Natasha explains, “I chose the phrase ‘Ebb and Flow’ because it encompasses the ups and downs we experience in life as well as creativity.” With Canadian imagery and touches of her children’s artwork, her board beautifully reflects home, inspiration, and the movement of everyday life.

Staci created a mini quilt featuring the word “Balance,” along with a tiny quilted tag reading “Home,” both from her own patterns. Her word is a guiding intention for the year ahead. As she explains, “This is going to be a busy year for me both personally and professionally, and my word is a reminder to keep it as balanced as I can.” Grounded by the beauty of her Montana lake home, her board reflects steadiness, gratitude, and purpose.

The directional geese echo her meaningful phrase about life’s journey, reminding us that while projects and life do not always follow the intended path, we grow from wherever we land. As Sue shares, “A project, or life, does not always follow the direction we choose. But in the end, I have learned.” Inspired by her roots near the beaches of Michigan and her home in Indiana, her board reflects a heart tied to both place and family.
