About
Behind the name:
Every aspect of making a quilt comes with thought about the end product and user, including picking out a pattern, fabric selection, thread selection, batting choice, quilting design, whom to have quilt it, as well as how to have it quilted, label design, and how it will be presented. There is no getting away from the dedication that goes into the quilt making process. If you have ever received a handmade quilt from someone, you know it was created from the heart.
Quilters not only create for themselves, but they are creating for others. Quilters enjoy the process that gets to the final product, and enjoy knowing that what they are making is going to end up in the hands of someone chosen intentionally. This combination of intrinsic and extrinsic gratification and joy creates bliss.
Creating is my bliss, and these patterns are my gift to you in hopes that you will go out and find your bliss!

Meet the Maker:
Hi! I’m Clare, the founder of Bliss Quilt Co. My journey into the quilting world began while I was pregnant with my first child. I was clueless about how to make a quilt, but looked longingly at all the lovely quilts on Pinterest that I wished I knew how to make. I found a quilt I really wanted to make for my new baby; Fancy Forest by Elizabeth Hartman. Luckily, I have an aunt who is a longtime sewist and quilter. She offered to help me with the project, and was quickly hands-off. Throughout the project, I fell in love with the quilting process and have been sewing and quilting ever since.
I have formal training in Art and Design, and even as a youngster, I enjoyed experimenting with various mediums, and took many art classes. I earned a degree in Interior Design and Merchandising Management. After college, I worked on designing custom homes, as well as doing design/build/remodel work. During those years, my job was essentially to draw pictures all day. Beyond work hours, I was always experimenting with painting and surface design. Some of my designs can be found in my Spoonflower shop.
I stepped away from the corporate world to become a stay at home mom, yet continued drawing, painting, photography, sewing, and quilting. Since the completion of the Fancy Forest quilt, and after making many more quilts from existing patterns, I quickly got to the point of being comfortable with creating and sewing my own designs and writing my own patterns. Hence the birth of Bliss Quilt Co., which affords me a path to share my love of art and design with you.
I enjoy having a journal to doodle in and to work on ideas as they come to mind. I often sit down with no intention of creating anything in particular; I just know I have to sit down and let ideas flow. I prefer to hand draw my ideas, but I also enjoy playing in either EQ8 or Adobe Illustrator.
For me, the creative process is pure joy. I just love to create! I hope you do too! Happy creating!
